Embracing the Rain: A Colombian Morning Experience

Chapter 1: A Rainy Awakening
This morning greeted me with the soothing sound of rain pattering against the roof.
I reside in a region of Colombia known for its slightly cooler climate. However, "cold" here is a relative term—it simply means the weather isn’t consistently 75 degrees and sunny throughout the year.
Reflecting back, I recall being in Jericó two years ago, complaining about the chill. Just a few days ago, I grumbled about the heat and the uncharacteristically dry conditions. But today marks a shift; the skies have long hinted at rain.
Last night, the sunset was a vivid spectacle, and I could hear distant rumbles of thunder. Even the cows were lying down, anticipating the upcoming downpour.
In Appalachia, there’s an old saying: “When all the cows are resting, a storm is imminent.” Just two days prior, I noticed them all sprawled out, and now, here we are—finally witnessing the rain.
The gentle drizzle outside is refreshing. I hope it continues for several days. In Colombia, known for its lush, tropical vegetation, I’ve never needed to water my garden. Yet just the other day, my plants were so parched that I had to haul out the hose to revive them. I can’t wait to see my little seeds sprouting after this nourishing rainfall.
As I peek out my window, I hear the rain softly falling from the leaves, while birds stir from their slumber. The clouds linger overhead, blocking the sun’s rays.
After a sweltering summer, this is a welcome relief. I find comfort in the coolness of the air as I settle in to plan my day.
XOXO
