Exploring Information Black Holes: Dreams and Consciousness

Chapter 1: The Intersection of Dreams and Information
This essay is not merely speculative; it emerges from a vivid dream experience that was so intense it roused me from sleep, prompting me to record what I heard. Influences from various sources, including Gary Nolan's recent discussion with Jimmy Church, have led me to realize I'm not alone in contemplating these themes deeply enough to manifest in dreams. Chris Lehto's insights and Jacques Vallée's TED talk also contributed to my understanding of a dimension of physics that often goes unrecognized: the concept of information.
Has the black hole information paradox dissipated? While it's unlikely that Nolan or Church are familiar with my previous writings, such as "Is Fiction Writing a Form of Remote Viewing?" from December 5th, I speculate that the idea may have crossed my mind after hearing similar thoughts elsewhere. I consider myself an information black hole, absorbing everything around me. Did Nolan touch on this in another forum? Perhaps. I appreciate his work and frequently engage with it. While he lacks empirical evidence for his theories, my own essay offers at least one unexplainable synchronicity as a form of evidence.
Synchronicity, a concept introduced by Carl Jung, refers to the strange occurrences that seem too coincidental to be mere chance. This brings us back to the contributions of Lehto and Vallée, who both suggest that everything consists of energy and information. Vallée articulates this notion well, indicating that physics divides into two domains: the energy aspect and the informational aspect.
Energy and information are two interconnected elements of existence, yet our discussions predominantly focus on energy.
The first video, "What Is the Black Hole Information Paradox? The Problem with Black Hole Evaporation," explores the complexities surrounding black holes and the conundrums they present in the realm of physics.
Section 1.1: Dreams of Black Holes and Their Significance
In Vallée's lecture, he invoked Maxwell's demon, which Lehto elaborates on, referencing another favorite science series, PBS Spacetime. While I appreciate the energy dimension, I am drawn to what Vallée calls the "missing sister" of energy: information.
Interestingly, many people are aware of the gap between what we comprehend and what we remain oblivious to. Matt O'Dowd, the charming Australian host of Spacetime, tends to highlight the energy discussion, but I lean more towards consciousness and mental health perspectives, influenced by Jung's work.
Could coincidences merely be coincidences? Some individuals experience them more frequently than others. In scientific terms, it might be intriguing to measure such occurrences. Is it possible for everyone to have a unique "coincidence rate"? Even if these events are anecdotal, could a more scientific approach elevate their significance and determine if they are truly random? If consciousness or the subconscious mind is at play, I suspect randomness is unlikely. We shape our own realities.
Carl Jung compiled a list of inexplicable phenomena, a substantial catalog. I recommend watching Vallée’s video to explore these significant occurrences that feel ghostly in nature. Might we be drawn to ghost stories because they contain an element of truth? If energy and information are intertwined, could inhaling a particle from another person or holding an object they once possessed transmit information sufficient to share memories?
If no physical matter ever comes into contact, how is information exchanged? Through energy? Even if atoms never touch, could energy transfer from one atom to another? By definition, wouldn't that also convey information? Are we blind to certain realities simply because we restrict our perceptions to socially accepted methods of information processing?
Section 1.2: The Nature of Time and Information
We can frame coincidences in alternative ways. Perhaps the future exists in some form already. According to Einstein, spacetime is an illusion, meaning everything is interconnected in a continuous now. This suggests that information could leak backward in time, as there is no true 'past'—it is all part of a living network of energy, continually informing one another.
Vallée clarified this by contrasting a traditional library filled with physical books against the concept of Google Memory, which fundamentally differs from merely expanding a library's capacity. Physicists should appreciate this idea since it implies the absence of free will—a notion that materialists often embrace, positing that we are merely illusions.
But one thing I am always certain of is the authenticity of my conscious experiences. If that is real, can we claim that life is an illusion, similar to reading a book or watching a film? It certainly feels real in the sense that we receive information, but is it truly authentic?
The second video, "Hawking's Black Hole Paradox Explained - Fabio Pacucci," sheds light on the intricacies of black holes and their implications for our understanding of the universe.
Chapter 2: The Duality of Energy and Information
The dream I experienced was so striking that I woke up, and a voice urged me to write down what I had learned. "Information leaving the eye propels you into the future," it said. Confused but compelled, I recorded my thoughts before returning to sleep.
The voice was not familiar; it had a masculine tone. I pondered whether it could have been Jung or Tesla, narrowing it down to one of my "Invisible Counselors," a term from Napoleon Hill. Had it been someone like Jackie Chan, I would have expected more humor and conflict.
In the dream, I found myself engaged in a debate: "This doesn't add up." The response was, "You're trying to interpret it as energy, but it’s about information. While correlations exist, it’s metaphorical rather than practical. It’s not a tool, John." As I unpacked this, I realized that the 'eye' referred not to our physical sight but to the essence of who I am. Our experiences drive us forward through time.
The dream suggested that we channel light—essentially information—propelling us through time as our relationships shape new perspectives and insights.
As highlighted in the spacetime video and Lehto's discussions, biological life operates as Maxwell's demons that resist entropy. Living organisms navigate the delicate balance of energy and information, akin to the 'I' that I embody, sorting through both elements.
I woke again to the phrase, "Information black holes are real." I was awake, aware of the clock showing 5:32 AM. Time had passed, and I felt weary as though I had been exerting myself. Yet, I dutifully wrote down "information black holes."
In 2019, physicist Melvin Vopson from the University of Portsmouth proposed that information equates to mass and energy, existing as a distinct form of matter—a theory known as the mass-energy-information equivalence principle. This suggests every piece of information possesses quantifiable mass.
Is this true? Was this idea presented in 2019? I find it perplexing since Vallée addressed similar concepts back in 2011. The notion that information is integral to the equation has roots tracing back to Maxwell's time.
Is information synonymous with awareness? Is it consciousness? While there may be a correlation, particularly in metaphorical terms, knowledge is often likened to light. The phrase "Let there be light" raises the question: was that light physical or metaphorical? Helen Keller described her first experience of connecting a word with its meaning as an epiphany, equating it to light.
If matter and energy are interchangeable, how do we create a black hole? By concentrating enough matter or energy! So, if matter, energy, and information are equivalent, can we form a black hole from knowledge?
In my dream, I perceived that a soul's journey leads to maturation through learning. When a certain mass of knowledge accumulates—both directly through experiences and indirectly via vicarious learning—it implodes. This is not death but a transformation, enabling it to transcend this universe through its own wormhole, branching into a unique epiphany. It’s akin to awakening from the Matrix by crafting its own reality.
The soul retains all the wisdom from previous universes while integrating its unique perspective, which inherently represents the evolution of information.
Perhaps you’ve heard the phrase, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." From this viewpoint, you embody the transformation you desire in the world.
Is this perspective valid? I cannot say for certain, as it was not derived through rational thought but rather emerged from a dream. There are rational correlations that I have referenced. In the absence of more extensive scientific discourse, I am simply experimenting to see what resonates.
Ultimately, perhaps we all fade to black, but that doesn't necessarily signify a definitive end; it could represent the genesis of a new existence. If energy is neither created nor destroyed, we continue on. However, this raises the question: can information be created or destroyed? Can something entirely new come into being? Or are all narratives merely echoes of future knowledge? Does this dream touch upon a future reference point in part or in full? Can energy move backward or forward through time? Can information? Recent studies on time crystals suggest that the answer is a resounding YES! Life may indeed function as a crystal—a quantum computer, a time crystal computer.
I await further revelations.
