Kickstart Your Deeper Knowing: Embracing Routine and Ritual

Chapter 1: The Journey to Self-Discovery
Dear Friends,
Over the past six months, I embarked on an extensive journey, moving from one location to another without a permanent home. This incredible experience taught me invaluable lessons about myself, my marriage, my children, my relationships, and my life path. I’ve realized that writing and creativity play a crucial role in this process.
Recently, I've settled into a new residence and feel more centered. Upon returning, I’ve rediscovered two essential practices that help (re)establish my deeper understanding. I’d like to share these with you to inspire your own journey toward deeper knowing.

Routine: A Foundation for Clarity
Establishing a routine is beneficial for mental clarity. It provides a sense of stability that resonates within the heart. I’m not suggesting an overly rigid schedule that stifles spontaneity. Instead, I advocate for a routine that nurtures your body, mind, and spirit upon waking and before resting at night.
Each morning, find a routine that suits you. Personally, I wake up, use the restroom, greet my surroundings, drink a glass of lemon water, meditate, engage in drumming, stretch, and then write. I would also make my bed, but my wife tends to sleep in a bit longer than I do. ;)
Once I finish my morning practices, I have breakfast, check in with my clients, brush my teeth, and squeeze in some physical activity before a day filled with meetings, sessions, and creative endeavors. Your routine can take whatever form works best for you, but aim for one that helps you access deeper knowledge early in your day. It’s akin to leveling up before diving into the game.
To discover your routine: Take a moment to jot down how you’d like to start (and conclude) your day. Your routine need not mirror mine or anyone else's. Begin practicing it and allow it to evolve as you do.

Ritual: Connecting with Deeper Meaning
Rituals differ from routines in that they carry a deeper intention. Engaging in ritual can anchor you to profound experiences. Every day, I practice greeting the land, acknowledging the garden, the seven directions, and expressing gratitude to all the beings that support me. Additionally, I engage in samatha meditation, connecting with the higher selves of those around me—those I assist and those who bolster my efforts. I also journey through drumming to connect with my guides and seek their support and insights.
To discover your ritual: Reflect on activities that hold significant meaning for you. This might be something you’ve practiced in the past and wish to revisit or a new practice you’re interested in exploring. Whatever it is, embrace it, prioritize it in your daily schedule, and you’ll be met with love.
Love,
Scott
