If you thrive without them, it forces a confrontation with their own shortcomings, revealing their true character—a false identity that they meticulously crafted.

The narcissist cannot bear the thought of you succeeding without them; it threatens their inflated self-image and exposes their weaknesses. Their jealousy and envy will intensify, as they have always relied on diminishing your self-worth to elevate their own.
