My Daughter's Top Star Trek Characters: A Science Adventure

Chapter 1: The Science Connection
What do Spock, Jadzia Dax, Kathryn Janeway, D'Vana Tendi, and Rok-Tahk have in common? They are all scientists in the cosmos. Plus, they happen to be my daughter's beloved Star Trek characters.
A few years back, my wife and I were engrossed in a binge session of Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Midway through, my then two-year-old daughter became enamored with Jadzia Dax. She even created an original character to accompany Dax as a science officer.
After finishing DS9, I revisited my favorite series, Star Trek: Voyager. Each time we watched, she would recall Captain Kathryn Janeway, leading us to affectionately refer to it as Star Trek: "Janeway."
I was thrilled to discover Nickelodeon's upcoming series Star Trek: Prodigy, especially when I learned that Janeway would be featured. A kid-friendly Star Trek show alongside our cherished character? It was the perfect chance for us to bond over our love for Star Trek!
Star Trek: Prodigy captivated both of us from start to finish. Based on her past reactions, I anticipated that Hologram Janeway would be her favorite. Surprisingly, she gravitated towards Rok-Tahk, the gentle giant with a passion for science.
Then came Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, where my daughter quickly grew fond of Ethan Peck's interpretation of Spock. I borrowed a little golden book titled "I Am Mr. Spock" from the library, which she insisted I get again a few weeks later. Another science-centric character had made her list!
To bridge the gaps between shows, I tuned into Star Trek: Lower Decks. During the opening sequence, my daughter delights in the massive creature perched on the Cerritos' warp nacelle. When I recently inquired about her favorite character from that series, you probably guessed it — it’s D'Vana Tendi, a junior officer in the sciences division.
Over the years, my daughter has nurtured a fascination for both art and science, and I take joy in providing her with the tools she needs. It's a remarkable journey that fills me with pride.
