A couple of weeks ago, Bose sent me the latest QuietComfort Ultra earbuds, and they are nothing short of phenomenal. It's clear why these have garnered so much attention, even if many of you haven't had the chance to try them yet.

The QuietComfort Ultra is priced at £299.95 in the UK and will start shipping in October. Additionally, there's a new notch light feature designed for stability bands.

Users can expect about six hours of battery life, supplemented by a charging case that provides an additional three charges, totaling 24 hours of listening time. I must highlight the setup process for the QuietComfort Ultra, which includes a delightful personalization option where you can name your earbuds. Instead of the generic product name, Bose offers fun choices like ‘Bass Bumpers’ and ‘Ear Confetti’.
Furthermore, the setup features a guided tour that introduces the orchestral sound played when the earbuds are inserted, which is part of the CustomTune technology. This technology calibrates each earbud for optimal noise cancellation and tailored audio—an innovative feature that eliminates the need for complex testing.

The QuietComfort Ultra delivers brilliant audio right out of the box, without the need for equalization. However, if you prefer adjusting the sound profile, you can easily do so via the Bose app, which offers simple presets as well.
The soundstage of the QuietComfort Ultra is surprisingly expansive for such compact earbuds. They handle challenging tracks, like Pop Evil’s "Breathe Again," with remarkable ease—an impressive feat for any earbuds.
These earbuds excel across various genres, producing sound that feels vibrant, engaging, and dynamic. There's no distortion, the mids are clear, and the high frequencies are pleasant without being harsh. The bass is smooth and balanced, complementing rather than overwhelming the overall sound.
While I’m not an audiophile and don’t delve deeply into detailed frequency analysis, I can confidently affirm that the QuietComfort Ultra justifies its £299.95 price point—and may even exceed expectations. They sound premium and proficient and introduce an exciting new feature: immersive spatial audio.
This technology offers two modes: 'still', which positions sound in front of you, and 'motion', which allows sound to move with your head. The 'still' mode is ideal for stationary listening, while 'motion' is tailored for a more active experience.
If you haven’t yet experienced spatial audio, the effect is captivating. It adds depth to your listening experience, making studio recordings feel more vibrant and expansive. This feature shines particularly when watching movies or TV shows, making the QuietComfort Ultra a frontrunner in audio technology.
Section 2.1: Comfort and Usability
These earbuds are incredibly comfortable for prolonged wear, thanks to the thoughtful design of the bands and tips. Bose has opted for touch controls, which are unobtrusive and user-friendly. You can also set shortcuts for your favorite immersive audio settings for quick access.
A notable feature is the auto-play and pause function, which activates when you take the earbuds in and out—something I find lacking in many competing products.
Battery life on the QuietComfort Ultra is exceptional, and I appreciate that Bose informs users of the remaining battery life whenever they place the earbuds in their ears.
In terms of aesthetics, the QuietComfort Ultra boasts an appealing stem design. Although the case is slightly larger than average, it’s well-constructed and satisfying to handle.
Conclusion: Is It Worth Your Investment?
Absolutely.
I adored the Bose QC45s for their all-around performance, and the QuietComfort Ultra elevates that experience with the best noise cancellation I’ve encountered in earbuds, alongside engaging sound that works brilliantly across genres.
I’m genuinely impressed by these earbuds and confidently declare the QuietComfort Ultra to be the best I’ve tested this year. While they are priced similarly to high-end over-ear noise-cancelling headphones, their performance stands shoulder to shoulder with those models.
These earbuds will undoubtedly set a new standard.
